West Burlington, Iowa (June 3, 2020)………Forty-four (44) USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car drivers have pre-entered for this Saturday night’s, June 6, Sonny’s Market Night at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.  It’s the opener of a doubleheader weekend with a visit to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri on tap the following night, Sunday, June 7.

One spot remains open to fill the 44-car allotment for the event, but already, five previous USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car champs have thrown their collective hats into the bullring for the series’ third-ever visit to the 3/8-mile 34 Raceway.

Dave Darland (Lincoln, Ind.), the 1999 USAC Sprint champion, possesses the one-lap track record in both the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car and USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget at 34 Raceway.  He’s also led 37 of a possible 60 laps at the track in USAC Sprint competition, winning in 2013 and was leading when encountering a mechanical issue in 2010.

Robert Ballou, the 2015 series titlist, returns to the series for the first time in nearly a year after suffering a severe arm injury last June at Kokomo (Ind.) Speedway.  The Rocklin, California native was 5th at 34 Raceway in 2013.

Chris Windom has been highly successful with a pair of second place finishes in his two 34 Raceway USAC Sprint starts.  The Canton, Ill. native and 2017 USAC Sprint champ, who resides second in the points, won his heat in 2010, but finished 2nd in the feature behind Levi Jones in 2010 and was the runner-up again to Darland in 2013.

Two-time USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car champion Brady Bacon (2014 & 16) out of Broken Arrow, Okla. has been perfect thus far in the two series feature events this year, sweeping both nights at Ocala, Fla. in February after starting 9th in each, and leads the standings.  He led the first 13 laps of the 2013 event at 34 Raceway, but a broken rear axle suffered while leading relegated him to a 19th place finish.

C.J. Leary (Greenfield, Ind.) will make his 34 Raceway USAC debut this Saturday night and will do so in a change of scenery from which he drove in the first two events in 2020.  Leary, the 2019 series driving champion, has returned to the family owned No. 30 after he and Gene Gile Racing parted ways following the Ocala, Fla. openers in February.

Not a USAC Sprint champ yet, but with a 2018 USAC National Midget championship on his racing resume is Logan Seavey of Sutter, Calif., who, like Leary, is prepping for his 34 Raceway USAC debut.  The 2018 USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Rookie of the Year is behind the wheel of the 2019 series champion team’s car, the Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports No. 19AZ.

Twelve drivers representing a total of 215 USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car victories are in this Saturday’s field, including Darland (62), Bacon (31), Ballou (29), Windom (25), Leary (9) and Seavey (1), plus 27 for Kevin Thomas Jr. (Cullman, Ala.), 16 for Justin Grant (Ione, Calif.), 12 for Chase Stockon (Fort Branch, Ind.), and one each for Carson Short (Marion, Ill.), Scotty Weir (Marion, Ind.) and Matt Westfall (Pleasant Hill, Ohio).

Grandstand ticket sales are now live for the June 6 race at 34 Raceway at https://market.myracepass.com/store/tickets/?i=1208706&store=12037.  Grandstand seating is limited to 50 percent capacity, so make sure to act fast so you don’t miss out!
