The “Lunatics” team of USAC quarter-midget graduate Callie Wolsiffer, Ryan Fleming and Jordan Hewitt upset USAC veteran Kevin Thomas Jr. and “Team Thomas” to win Sunday’s 19th “Fun at Fastimes” karting enduro in Indianapolis, Ind.

Benefitting the USAC Benevolent Foundation, the event sponsored by the Tony Stewart Foundation featured a three-hour race and a one-hour amateur race won by Team Sidelways, while Steg Lightning started on the pole.

The “Lunatics” team victory ended the three-year domination of “Team Thomas.” The “Lunatics” posted the race’s fastest lap time of 22.381 seconds on the two-level twisting facility, posted by Fleming. Trailing “Team Thomas,” who trailed by just 8.65 seconds in second, was the third-place team of Burco Molding. The top three teams all completed a whopping 424 laps!

Founded in 1959, the USAC Benevolent Foundation provides financial assistance to injured auto racing participants and their families with ties to USAC or INDYCAR.

Former USAC driver Greg Staab spoke at the drivers’ meeting to share how the Benevolent Foundation has helped him through his recent recovery from throat cancer.

“Thanks to the participants, sponsors, volunteers and special guest Greg Staab, it was a great event,” said USAC Benevolent Foundation Executive Director Josh Laycock. “This fundraiser will have an impact in helping those in our racing community in need of our support.”

The USAC Benevolent Foundation’s 21st Annual Women’s Charity Golf Tourney, honoring the generosity of the late Mary Fendrich Hulman, is scheduled May 24 at the Eagle Creek Golf Course in Indianapolis. For more information, visit www.usacbf.org or call Josh Laycock at (317) 796-3289.
