CRA VISITS SANTA MARIA & PERRIS THIS WEEKEND

Mike Spencer of Temecula, Calif. leads the AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Cars to back-to-back races this Friday and Saturday night at Santa Maria and Perris, Calif. His point lead is only 38 over Matt Mitchell and 40 over Damion Gardner as he seeks a record sixth championship. 

All three drivers must keep an eye out for Richard Vander Weerd who has scored three wins in five starts this year at the half-mile dirt oval. He is currently fifth in the point tally. Gardner won the other two and is seeking a fourth series crown.

Vander Weerd also owns a 2015 Santa Maria victory, which came in the West Coast series in April. 

Saturday night’s race is the “Firecracker 40” at Perris. Gardner won last year’s “Firecracker 40” and now has 60 career USAC/CRA triumphs.
